The Walker Farm, located in Pierce County, GA, includes a 94.67± acre farm with a 100± year old farm house and barns. Just outside of Patterson, GA you will find this incredible property that has been in the Walker family since the early 1890’s and is rich with local history. The Walker family farmed tobacco, cattle and sugar cane for many years and was well known in the area. The original house was in the back of the property and was moved to the front of the property with a team of oxen after a panther was found stalking the home due to crying noises from a newborn baby. This building is still standing and was later used as a corn crib. There are several more buildings including a tobacco barn which most recently has been used to house equipment. The tool shed was formerly a syrup shed used to bottle and store cane syrup which was an important part of the families income for many years. A huge hay shelter and a livable cabin make up the remainder of the structures. The cabin has hot water, heat and air, power and septic and a porch on two sides. Along the nearly 1/2 mile of paved road frontage is a split rail locust fence dotted with crabapple trees every 20 feet. The main house sits on a 5 acre parcel that was planted with pecan trees and St. Augustine grass years ago. The balance of the property is wooded and includes an excellent stand of 30 year old longleaf pine that has been thinned three times. There are two water holes on the property which are spring fed and a hand dug shallow well in the back where the cane grinding operation used to be. This unique property has a 40 foot elevation change from front to back which adds to the great feel of this tract. Excellent deer, turkey and quail populations and habitat. The adjoining land to the southeast is a large tract of undeveloped timberland.
